Hypertonic Saline Preparation Calculator (Making 3% Saline)

This calculator helps determine the final NaCl concentration when mixing two saline solutions. Especially useful for preparing 3% saline for hyponatremia correction.

Solution A: [e.g., Normal Saline]

* Normal saline is 0.9% NaCl solution
Solution B: [e.g., Hypertonic Saline]

※ How to Easily Make 3% Saline (using 11.7% NaCl)
① Remove 100 mL from 500 mL normal saline (leave 400 mL)
② Add 100 mL of 11.7% NaCl solution

※ How to Easily Make 3% Saline (using 10% NaCl)
① Remove 100 mL from 500 mL normal saline (leave 400 mL)
② Add 120 mL of 10% NaCl solution

  1. I hope it’s okay to include a link, but I think it would help clarify my question regarding hypertonic saline. Could you explain more about the specific uses and potential side effects of hypertonic saline, as discussed in the article here: https://pillintrip.com/medicine/hypertonicsaline? I’m interested in how it is utilized for medical treatments, especially in cases like hyponatremia correction. Thank you for your insights!
